Comment spam
Black hat. Against platform rules or the law. Risks bans, fines and your reputation.
What is comment spam?
Comment spam is leaving comments that exist to promote something rather than to add to the discussion: generic praise with a link, "check out my page" replies, copy-pasted pitches under popular posts, and bot comments on blogs and videos.
Platforms and blog software filter it aggressively, and community moderators remove it quickly.
Why comment spam matters
It rarely brings customers, and it marks the account and brand as spam. A genuinely helpful answer in the right thread works better and is allowed almost everywhere.
Risks of comment spam
- Removed comments, shadowbans and account bans on social platforms and forums.
- Blog comment links are usually nofollow and can be ignored or treated as spam by search engines.
