Reddit karma
What is Reddit karma?
Reddit karma is a score shown on every Reddit profile, based on the upvotes (minus downvotes) that a user’s posts and comments have received, split into post karma and comment karma. It roughly signals how much the community has valued someone’s contributions.
Many subreddits set a minimum karma or account age to post, which keeps out spam and throwaway accounts.
Why Reddit karma matters
New accounts that post links straight away look like spam. Building karma by commenting helpfully is part of joining a community properly. Buying or farming karma breaks Reddit’s rules.
