Influencer contract
What is an influencer contract?
An influencer contract is the written agreement between a brand and a creator. It typically covers deliverables and formats, posting dates, payment and timing, usage rights and how long they last, whitelisting, exclusivity with competitors, approval rounds, disclosure and what happens if a post is late or removed.
Even small deals benefit from a short written agreement, such as an email both sides confirm.
Why an influencer contract matters
Most disputes come from things nobody wrote down: whether the brand can use the video in ads, for how long, or whether the creator can work with a competitor next month.
Related marketing terms
An influencer brief tells a creator what a sponsored piece should achieve: key messages, deliverables, dates, dos and don’ts and disclosure.
Usage rights say where, how and for how long a brand may reuse a creator’s content, for example in ads, on its website or in email.
Influencer whitelisting lets a brand run paid ads through a creator’s account, so ads show the creator’s name and content to new audiences.
FTC disclosureWhite hat
FTC disclosure is the US rule that creators must clearly say when they have a paid or material connection with a brand they promote.
An influencer rate card lists a creator’s prices for each type of content and extra, such as videos, stories, usage rights and exclusivity.
