Influencer outreach
What is influencer outreach?
Influencer outreach is the process of identifying suitable creators and contacting them about a collaboration. It covers research (who to contact), the first message, follow-ups, negotiation and keeping track of who said what.
Good outreach is personal and specific: it mentions the creator’s work, explains why their audience fits, and proposes something concrete. Generic mass messages are easy to spot and mostly ignored.
Why influencer outreach matters
Most creators receive many pitches. A well-researched, respectful message gets replies; a template does not. Tracking each conversation also stops you contacting the same person twice or forgetting a promise.
How to do influencer outreach
- Shortlist creators by audience fit, engagement rate and recent activity.
- Find the contact the creator publishes: a bio email, a business email or a management contact.
- Write a short message: who you are, why them (mention a recent post), what you propose and what they get.
- Follow up once or twice, politely, a few days apart.
- Put the agreement in writing: deliverables, dates, pay, usage rights and disclosure.
- Track every creator’s status: to contact, contacted, replied, agreed.
