Early adopters
What are early adopters?
Early adopters are the people who try new products early, before most of the market. In the diffusion of innovations model they follow innovators and come before the majority. They feel the problem strongly, tolerate imperfections and often give detailed feedback.
For startups, they are often found where people actively ask for solutions: communities, launches, waitlists and niche forums.
Why early adopters matter
They are the first revenue, the source of feedback and the first references. What they say about you shapes how the next, more cautious customers see you.
How to find early adopters
- Look for people already trying to solve the problem with workarounds.
- Search communities for people asking for a tool like yours.
- Launch where they gather: Show HN, Product Hunt, niche subreddits, newsletters.
- Offer something in return: direct access, influence on the roadmap, a founder’s price.
